BMS2000 Group

Objective

Pioneered by five founding societies in 1998, Groupe BMS2000 is a cooperative project for establishing a common database with the BMS records — births, marriages and deaths (burials or sepultures) —  of 24 genealogical societies of Quebec province. Close to ten millions BMS records have been collected.

Until the end of 2006, the database was shared and made available in the research centers of the participating societies for the sole benefit of their members.

In December 2006, this valuable treasure of genealogical data has been made available to the Internet community by the association of Groupe BMS2000 and the Centre de généalogie francophone d'Amérique.

Strong of these successes, the disclosed aim of the BMS2000 non profit corporation is now to include the majority, if not the totality, of the BMS records of the province and surrounding neighbourhood.

Administration

Groupe BMS2000 is managed by a board of directors elected among the member societies representatives :

  • Jacques Gauthier, External adviser to the Board (Société de généalogie de Lanaudière)
